| Port Orford has the most unusual 'harbour' I've ever seen. They don't have an actual harbour, since the town sits right on the open ocean, so there's no safe protected place for boats to moor. Instead they have two giant cranes that lower the boats into the water each morning, and lift them back out in the evening - like a child plucking toys out of the bathtub. The boats get lowered onto large wheeled trailers and are parked in neat rows on the dock. It's quite some bizarre scene! |
