| The western side of the North Palisade is in King's Canyon National Park. There are no roads across the mountains here in the southern Sierra Nevada. To get to Yosemite, King's Canyon or Sequoia National Parks, which are just on the other side of the mountain ridges, it would take a major detour of well over 100 miles to the north or south just to find a road across the mountains. Even further to find one open in winter, which around here ends in late May. |
