| Continuing south along Route 395 in the Owens River Valley alongside the ever higher mountains. The Sierra Nevada at this point are just one giant ridge of 14,000 foot peaks. Mount Whitney, straight ahead, at 14,494 feet, is the highest peak in the 'lower 48'. |
