Rocks and Haze - April 30, 2009
More colourful rocks. The sun is being filtered by a thin layer of clouds this morning, and that's keeping the temperature down in the low 30's.
Right now it's the end of the Death Valley tourist season which runs from fall to spring. In summer it's so hot it becomes dangerous. The air temperature soars to 134 degrees Fahrenheit, with the sand surface shooting up to 200 degrees. The only place on Earth that's hotter is the Sahara Desert.
