| Las Vegas Bay, Lake Mead. We had wanted to visit the Hoover Dam but were deterred by the difficulties involved. First we arrived at 'Checkpoint Charlie' where we'd have to undergo a through searching of our RV - every single compartment would have to be searched. The security officer told us that the Visitor Centre parking lot on the Nevada side was not big enough for an RV. So we'd have to drive across the dam, park at the Arizona Visitor Center, walk across the dam to take the tour, walk back, then most likely have to undergo a second searching before crossing back over!! All to take a look at a dam!!! Forget it!!!!! The security officer let us do a U-turn and we went back from whence we had come, and went to Lake Mead instead. |
