We are very surprised by the fancy furniture inside the primitive houses. The heavy wooden furniture reminds me of 17th-century Flemish paintings. The Pilgrims had been living in Holland for many years before they decided to come to America, so most of their furniture was of Dutch design. (photo courtesy of Jan) |
