| The original Plimoth settlement was similar to this recreation, overlooking the Bay. The site was chosen because it was very late in the year, and the spot was already cleared. It had been the site of a native village, which had been abandoned when most of the inhabitants died from disease. The native people were very superstitious and would not re-inhabit such a "cursed" site. |
