At the end of route 450, Captain Cook's Trail along the south side of Humber Arm, is Bottle Cove. Before he became a famous south seas explorer, Cook refined his cartographic skills along the coast of Newfoundland in the 1760's. His charts of the area are still accurate enough to be used today. A trail through the tuckamore leads to a monument to Cook on the flat spit of land in the distance. |
