The wharf and fishing stage are circa 1800-1830. This site on White Bay was chosen after searching across all of Newfoundland. They needed a protected site along a rugged coast, and there could be no signs of civilization in any direction: no roads, no houses, no hydro lines, nothing. The film was shot sequentially since it was impossible to hide anything, so new buildings were added as needed as the filming progressed. |
