| One of only a few active springs at Mammoth Hot Springs, this one is very beautiful. The colours are created by thermopiles (heat loving organisms). Colourless and yellow grow in the hottest water, while orange, brown and green thermopiles thrive in cooler waters. Colours also change with the seasons. |
