This turreted Queen Anne Victorian mansion in Kanab (one of several historic houses in town) seems so out of place here in the desert, but it's a monument to Mormon colonist's self sufficiency in the 1890's. The brick and lumber were produced locally, and the foundation and basement stones were cut from the red rock cliffs surrounding the town. |
