The giant crawler makes it's way to the launch-pad at a speed of one mile per hour. The crawler tracks are concrete with a thick layer of river stones. They use the river stones because they are smooth and round as opposed to regular gravel which can create sparks. Even so, the top layer of stones get demolished after the crawler passes over them. The tracks curve towards launch-pad 39B off in the distance. The tracks right in front of us head to launch-pad 39A - the only launch-pad still in use. |
